Film Day 4 - Willie Hinton (The Man at the Pool of Bethesa) & Daric Abbott (Didymus Judas Thomas)

My friend Tracey James is an amazing writer and director. As a professional dancer, one would think I’ve been involved in many projects such as this, but, not true.

As a newbie to acting, Tracey’s guidance and knowledge made this experience extremely calming and memorable. As a dancer, my words come from within through movement and gestures. After working with Tracey, I’ve found instances where my inner voice spoke louder than my movement ever could. The Man at the Pool of Bethesda finally was able to get his feet/legs…not only by Jesus speaking healing onto him, but by Tracey’s words, creating a strong foundation in which I was able to stand.

Didymus Day
My shoot day was a bit of an adventure. I arrived a bit early so I sat in the entrance to the church/studio with the families with younger or more active children, sweet babies, tender, patient parents, as we got going with the shooting part (eventually) I enjoyed observing people in their processes. The other “soloists” were a diverse bunch, and by interacting and observing them perform or practice their roles I became excited about the mosaic of all the presentations once knit together. I love banter and word play, and connecting with people, and I fell right in with Willie, just a beautiful soul. Lou is a solid solid friend and sweet lady. This was the most atypical day apparently because the camera crew was late arriving due to a series of Lemony Snicket type events and the stress was tangibly on Tracey’s countenance. We cracked jokes, shared ideas and encouraged one another throughout the day; and APPARENTLY my big brain shared an idea that even super creative lefty leader Tracey hadn’t thought of regarding our editing of the parts of our respective characters’ soliloquies ~ You’re Welcome Finished Product!  I think I brought something fun to my role as Didymus Judas Thomas and hope that translated (I was both nervous and frustrated that day). I loved that I was able to make Nae break character 🤣🤣🤣 I had other things going on so I couldn’t fully enjoy the post production get together but I really am stoked for the November viewing experience. Brava TDJ!!
